First you know and then you learn. Moshe Feldenkrais
The words of the master of Feldenkrais ring ever so clear for me especially when I am trying to work creatively. I remember fresh out of college with the burning ambition to write a novel. Except, I had nothing to write about-I hadn't lived.
The next part of my choreography will deal with the excitement of finding that vitality again. I now realize how burned out I actually have been for quite some time. In my walks with the dog I began to regain that sense of delight and wonder. I began creating phrases based on those walks and now, I need to let my imagination soar again, play with the music that has chosen me (Bach) now able to find new ways of creating.
Today I will try to work the second section (walking the box) with the idea of canon. This is the one I intend to put my students into for spring. It will be interesting dancing with them for real and planning a performance well down the line.
Organic learning will bring about personal change.
