Waking the feet

The trip to Philly was great.  And for the most part I feel more, not less refreshed, due in part to working my Feldenkrais lessons in the morning.  This helped me feel stronger and more in touch with my body than ever before.

The most stress came from standing, waiting in lines, tiring my feet.  So today I did a lesson called "waking the feet".  In it, I became aware of not only the muscles of my leg, but the hip, should and ribs as well.
Feldenkrais lessons are built around the awareness, that no body moves independently; all part of the body are interconnected and dependent on the efficient use of each.

In terms of choreography I was drawn to the idea of inner and outer as I worked the inner and outer edge of my foot.  But I was drawn to the greater meaning of calling.  I have been reading Jacques D'Amboise's autobiography "I Was a Dancer" and am very moved by his self-awareness of calling.

It is how I like to think of my life.  Though not an artist with a capital A, my view of my life as being called by the art form of dance or movement has greatly nourished me.  In rediscovering by simply doing (choreographing each day) I hope I not only reestablish what I know.  That to be an artist, you must create each day.  In addition, my wish is to rediscover the beauty of creating something is precious and it doesn't have to be on display to be real.
