"If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of potential-for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible." ~Soren Kierkegaard
As I start the new week, knowing that my school year is beginning soon, the focus of my work will be looking at how I approach various actions and skills, and to attempt new approaches.
One of the big stumbling blocks for me has always been fear of mistakes. Avoidance of subjects and physical activities has been a recurring theme for me. Variation is, as the author of Move Into Life puts it, life giving. Variation is essential for the continued growth of the brain.
I want to learn to look at situations and challenges in as many different ways as possible. It is easy to add variation to the way I move, but it is most challenging to approach situations without the usual thoughts and beliefs.
My inspiration is daughter Lydia, who refuses to play the viola just the same way as all other musicians. She is finding her self and her artistry through a series of experiments in how she plays and what she uses for improvement.
I hope to learn from her youthful spirit, how to renew my work and life as well.
